Holly Wolff will resign as CEO of Jefferson Community Health & Life in Fairbury, Neb., effective Sept. 23.
Ms. Wolff is leaving because of family obligations and will become a hospital CEO in Colfax, Wash., according to an Aug. 24 news release. She joined the organization in January 2025.
Jefferson Community Health & Life operates a 17-bed critical access hospital in Fairbury, along with a family medicine clinic, a long-term care facility, home health and occupational health services and a fitness center.
“This has been one of the most difficult decisions I have made because this organization has become so much more than a workplace; it has become home,” Ms. Wolff said in the release. “My personal responsibilities are centered on my family, my health and the care needs of my parents that have developed recently.”
During Ms. Wolff’s tenure, the organization began a $5.5 million therapy expansion and fitness center renovation, added a chief medical officer position, hired two physicians and two nurse practitioners, added a behavioral health program and added orthopedic and general surgery robotics, the release said. It was also recognized as a top 20 critical access hospital nationally.
“We have experienced a great amount of success with Holly in our leadership roll, and we thank her for her leadership,” Ross Boeckner, board chair, said in the release. “While we hate to lose her, we all understand that family is very important.”
The board will name an interim CEO to serve until a permanent successor is hired, and has begun a comprehensive search, according to the release.
