Mission Health System Chooses Dr. Ron Paulus as First Physician CEO

Ronald Paulus, MD, has been selected as the new president and CEO of Mission Health System and Mission Hospital, both in Asheville, N.C., according to a report by the Asheville Citizen-Times.

Dr. Paulus is the first physician to assume the CEO position at Mission and the first in North Carolina to head a community-owned, not-for-profit health system.

He comes to Mission from Geisinger Health System in Danville, Penn., where he served as executive vice president of clinical operations and chief innovation officer.

Dr. Paulus succeeds interim CEO Carleton Rider, who stepped down in January. Dr. Paulus will begin work on Sept. 1.
