MetroHealth System names Susan Fuehrer to lead health equity efforts: 5 notes

MetroHealth System in Cleveland has tapped Susan Fuehrer to serve as president of social determinants of health and health equity, a newly created role, according to Cleveland.com.

Five notes:

1. Ms. Fuehrer, who will assume her new role July 1, is currently director and CEO of the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System in Cleveland.

2. She has served as leader of the VA health system, which includes 18 care locations, since 2010.

3. During her tenure, the health system completed renovations at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center and built the Greater Cleveland Fisher House, which offers free, temporary housing for the families of military members and veterans receiving care at the Cleveland VA Medical Center or local hospitals.

4. She holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

5. In her new role at MetroHealth, Ms. Fuehrer will oversee initiatives to mitigate healthcare disparities and eliminate barriers to care.
