Methodist Hospital South gets new chief nursing officer

Tonja Thigpen, MSN, was appointed chief nursing officer of San Antonio, Texas-based Methodist Hospital South.

Ms. Thigpen most recently served as the assistant chief nursing officer at Reston (Va.) Hospital Center. She has held several other leadership roles throughout her career, including administrative director of nursing operations and practice at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va., a Sept. 21 news release said.

As a nursing director at Mary Washington, she oversaw the hospital’s critical care, trauma and emergency departments.

Ms. Thigpen served in the U.S. Army for nine years.
