Methodist Hospital CEO to retire: 4 things to know

Bruce Begley, CEO and administrator of Methodist Hospital in Henderson, Ky., will retire next month, according to The Gleaner.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Begley.

1. Mr. Begley has been with Methodist Hospital for more than three decades. He joined the hospital as assistant executive director and controller, and began his job as CEO in 1993.

2. During Mr. Begley's tenure, the hospital has achieved numerous successes, according to the report. These include:

  • Development of the Community Care Network, Methodist Hospital's first preferred provider organization
  • Purchase of Valley View Medical Center in Morganfield, Ky., now known as Methodist Hospital Union County
  • Conversion of Methodist Hospital Union County to a critical access hospital
  • The addition of a full-time neonatologist
  • Magnet recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center

3. Mr. Begley told The Gleaner he hopes to complete Methodist Hospital's affiliation with Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind., before he leaves his post.

4. Mr. Begley's replacement is expected to take over April 4.
