Mercy Medical Center taps Paul Hiltz as interim CEO

Canton, Ohio-based Mercy Medical Center named Paul C. Hiltz interim CEO, effective July 24. He is replacing Thomas E. Cecconi, who announced his retirement plans in June.

Mr. Hiltz most recently served as a senior adviser for the Mercy Health System in Cincinnati. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of Springfield, Ohio-based Community Mercy Health Partners. He joined CMHP in 1985.

While at Mercy Health, he helped launch an ACO, Mercy Health Select. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds a master’s degree in health administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati.

Mr. Hiltz will take over as interim CEO as Mr. Cecconi transitions into the CEO emeritus role. Mr. Cecconi, who led the medical center for 15 years, will officially retire at the end of the year.
