MemorialCare names new CEO for hospitals after summer resignations

Blair Kent was named CEO of MemorialCare Long Beach (Calif.) Medical Center and MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach.

Mr. Kent brings more than two decades of healthcare leadership experience to the role, according to a Dec. 8 news release.

Most recently, he served as CEO of Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, part of Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare. He also previously served as administrator of Intermountain Healthcare’s Alta View Hospital in Sandy, Utah, and Riverton (Utah) Hospital.

In his new role, Mr. Kent succeeds John Bishop. Mr. Bishop and former COO Ike Mmeje announced their resignations in July. Mr. Bishop agreed to remain CEO of the MemorialCare hospitals pending the completion of a national search to identify his successor. Mr. Mmeje left the hospitals in August.
