Memorial Hospital CEO Jim O'Loughlin to retire: 5 things to know

Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., announced President and CEO Jim O'Loughlin is retiring, effective April 2017, according to a WJXT News4Jax report. Memorial Hospital is a part of Hospital Corporation of America South Atlantic in Charleston, S.C.

Here are five things to know:

1. Mr. O'Loughlin served at the helm of the hospital for five years.

2. During his tenure, the hospital added an in-patient pediatric unit and opened three freestanding emergency rooms, among other accomplishments.

3. The hospital was first in the region to unveil a prescription medication kiosk.

4. Mr. O'Loughlin will teach healthcare administration courses at local colleges post-retirement.

5. Tom Pentz, who has worked with HCA for more than 29 years, will take over as interim CEO.
