Here are six things to know about Dr. Chaudhry.
1. Her appointment comes as Memorial Healthcare System gains accreditation to pursue residency programs.
2. Dr. Chaudhry will serve as the vice president for academic affairs and chief academic officer for all graduate medical education programs at Memorial Healthcare System.
3. She is currently focused on pursuing accreditation for the following residency programs: physical medicine and rehabilitation, internal medicine and pediatrics. Future residency programs will include surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and others.
4. Prior to joining Memorial Healthcare System, Dr. Chaudhry was appointed professor of medicine at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, now the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, in Hempstead, N.Y. In that role, she developed curricula for the new medical school.
5. She also previously worked for Great Neck, N.Y.-based North Shore-LIJ Health System, now Northwell Health, as vice chairwoman for education in the department of medicine. There, she coordinated the merger of two residency programs. She also previously served as associate director and director of the health system’s internal medicine residency program.
6. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) appointed Dr. Chaudhry to serve on the New York Council on Graduate Medical Education, and she is chairwoman of the Association of Program Directors of Internal Medicine Survey and Scholarship Committee.
