Dr. Novello succeeds Christine Wray, who is retiring Jan. 28, 2022, after 42 years in healthcare.
Dr. Novello joined the health system in 1999 as an attending physician in the emergency department at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore. She currently serves as the hospital’s vice president of medical affairs.
Under her leadership, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for MedStar Franklin Square improved from a grade C to grade A, the news release said. She also led the implementation of hospital information technology platforms, including MedConnect.
Dr. Novello will assume her new role on Jan. 28, 2022.
