Maui Health System appoints James Diegel chief strategy officer: 5 things to know

Wailuku, Hawaii-based Maui Health System selected James Diegel to serve as chief strategy officer, according to a Maui Now report.

Five things to know:

1. Mr. Diegel, appointed June 17, most recently served as CEO of Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

2. He is former president and CEO at St. Charles Health System in Bend, Ore.

3. He has served on several boards, including the American Hospital Association’s.

4. Mr. Diegel is a former Peace Corps volunteer and holds a master’s degree in health service administration from St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga.

5. In his new role, he will oversee strategic direction for Maui Health System’s three hospitals and two clinics.
