Matagorda County Hospital District CEO departs: 5 things to know

Bay City, Texas-based Matagorda County Hospital District CEO Steve Smith resigned, effective May 1, according to a Bay City Tribune report.

Here are five things to know.

1. Mr. Smith said in a press release that he "recognized it was the right time for both parties to seek a change in leadership," Bay City Tribune reports.

2. Additionally, the board released a statement noting they "decided to go a different direction."

3. Mr. Smith served as CEO for 10 years.

4. During his tenure, he spearheaded the completion of the hospital's new campus and oversaw several additions, including the development of the MRMC Wellness & Rehabilitation Center.

5. Hospital CFO Bryan Prochnow has taken over as interim CEO.
