Dr. Erickson, who also serves as MGH’s senior vice president for patient care services, won’t step down until her replacement is found. She will then stay involved in research and international activities at the hospital.
“While this news is certainly momentous and bittersweet for MGH, it is not completely unexpected,” Peter Slavin, MD, president of MGH, and Thomas Lynch, MD, CEO and chairman of Massachusetts General Physicians Organization, wrote in a memo to employees obtained by Becker’s. “Many years ago, Jeanette mentioned that she wanted to serve as chief nurse for 20 years, a milestone she reached this past September. And as many of us know so well, Jeanette always delivers on her plans, always meets her goals.”
MGH has put together a search committee to find the hospital’s next chief nurse.
