Mass General Brigham names president of Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital

Boston-based Mass General Brigham has appointed Ross Zafonte, DO, president of Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, a news release shared with Becker's Oct. 5 said.

Dr. Zafonte most recently served as Spaulding's interim president in addition to his roles as senior vice president for medical affairs, research and education; chief of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Massachusetts General Hospital; and chair of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Brigham and Women's Hospital, all of which are located in Boston. He will continue in the latter two roles while serving as president of Spaulding, according to the news release.  

Dr. Zafonte is internationally recognized for his knowledge and expertise on traumatic brain injury and has received numerous awards for his research. His textbook on brain injury care is considered the standard in the field, and he is currently directing several large clinical trials focused on understanding the mechanisms of recovery after brain and spinal cord injury, the news release said.
