5 New Health Systems to Know

The following is a list of five health systems that formed in the past two years.

Cadence Health (Winfield, Ill.). Cadence Health was formed in March 2011 as a result of the merger between Central DuPage Health System in Winfield, Ill., and Delnor Community Health System in Geneva, Ill. Cadence Health also includes Cadence Physician Group, a network of more than 175 primary care physicians and specialists. The CEO of the heath system is Michael Vivoda.

KentuckyOne (Louisville). KentuckyOne formed in January 2012 as a result of the merger between Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare in Louisville and Saint Joseph Health System in Lexington, Ky. It is a non-profit organization that incorporates the Jewish and Catholic heritage of its founder members. The CEO is Ruth Brinkley.

Presence Health (Chicago). Presence health was formed in November 2011 as a result of the merger of Provena Health in Mokena, Ill., and Resurrection Health Care in Chicago. It is a non-profit health system and is the largest Catholic health system in Illinois. The president and CEO is Sandra Bruce.

University of Colorado Health (Aurora). University of Colorado Health was formed in January 2012. Poudre Valley Health System entered in an equal partnership with University of Colorado Hospital to form University of Colorado Health. The CEO is Bruce Schroffel, and the president is Rulon Stacey.

University of South Florida Health System (Tampa). USF Health System formed in September 2012. Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Medical Center is the inaugural member of the health system. Elaine Thompson, PhD, was named the CEO of USF Health System.
