Northern Louisiana Medical Center’s CEO, Monica Adams, has resigned after serving in the role for approximately three months, according to an Aug. 24 Facebook post from the hospital.

Ms. Adams became CEO of the Ruston, La.-based hospital in June. Her resignation was  due to personal and family reasons, according to the post. Northern Louisiana Medical Center’s COO, Arnie Young, became interim CEO as of Aug. 21.

“We are incredibly grateful to Monica for the leadership, energy and commitment she brought to NLMC,” Mr. Young said in the Facebook post. “Although her time as CEO was brief, she helped set meaningful change in motion throughout our organization. Our leadership team is committed to continuing that work and building upon the progress already underway.”

Ms. Adams led the hospital and its affiliated clinic “with an emphasis on communication, accountability, employee engagement, and strengthening the hospital’s relationship with the community,” the post said.

As of June 30, the 130-bed hospital was at risk of losing its Medicare participation status — and thus losing federal funding — after CMS surveyors found 24 deficiencies of care. The hospital was found to be noncompliant with Medicare rules on its governing body, patient rights and nursing services. If they have not been satisfactorily corrected, the hospital’s Medicare provider agreement will be terminated effective Aug. 30.

Northern Louisiana Medical Center, the Louisiana Department of Public Health and CMS did not immediately reply to Becker’s requests for comment. Becker’s will update this article should more information become available.
