Longtime Mary Washington Healthcare CFO retiring, successor named

Sean Barden, executive vice president and CFO of Fredericksburg, Va.-based Mary Washington Healthcare, is retiring after more than 17 years in the role. 

Thomas Mathews has been named the system’s new executive vice president and CFO, according to a news release shared with Becker’s on July 9. He joins Mary Washington from UnityPoint Health-Des Moines (Iowa), where he served as regional CFO.

Mr. Mathews will assume his new role on July 14. Mr. Barden will collaborate with him to ensure a seamless transition. Mr. Barden’s last day is expected to be Aug. 16.
