LifePoint Health appoints Alan Larson CEO of Danville Regional Medical Center: 5 things to know

Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health has appointed Alan Larson south central Virginia market president and CEO for Danville (Va.) Regional Medical Center, effective Aug. 1. 

In his new role, Mr. Larson will have regional oversight of both DRMC and Memorial Hospital of Martinsville (Va.) and Henry County while also leading the daily operations of DRMC, according to the hospital.

Mr. Larson replaces Jerry Dooley, who has served as interim market president and CEO of DRMC since November 2014.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Larson.

1. Mr. Larson founded TD HealthCare, a healthcare consulting and interim leadership organization, and he has served as its CEO since 2006.  

2. Prior to TD HealthCare, Mr. Larson was senior vice president of Mercy Health System of Southeastern Pennsylvania in Conshohocken and CEO of the system's Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital campus in Darby, Pa., from 2003-06.

3. Mr. Larson was one of eight founders of Arcon HealthCare, a start-up ambulatory care company in Nashville, Tenn.

4. Mr. Larson earned his master's degree in health administration from Medical College of Virginia and his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University.

5. Mr. Larson is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
