LewisGale Regional Health System CEO to depart in June: 4 notes

Salem, Va.-based LewisGale Regional Health System CEO Brian Baumgardner is retiring, effective June 1, according to The Roanoke Times.

Here are four notes:

1. Mr. Baumgardner became CEO of the Richmond-based HCA Virginia health system in 2016.

2. During his tenure, the health system established a graduate medical education program.

3. He came to LewisGale Regional from HCA’s West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, where he was president and CEO.

4. Thomas Pentz, who has served as CEO for numerous HCA facilities, will take over as interim CEO.
