Lee Health names next CEO

Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health selected COO Ben Spence as its next president and CEO, effective Oct. 1.

The system’s board approved the selection June 4, according to a June 8 health system news release.

Mr. Spence will succeed Larry Antonucci, MD, who plans to retire Sept. 30 after nine years as president and CEO. Until then, Mr. Spence will continue serving as COO and work with executive leadership and the board on the transition.

Mr. Spence joined Lee Health in 1995 and has spent more than three decades with the organization. During that time, he held leadership roles in finance, strategy and operations, including more than a decade as CFO before being named COO.
