Nancy Blake, PhD, MSN, RN, is retiring from her role as chief nursing officer of Los Angeles General Medical Center.
Dr. Blake shared news of her retirement plan in an Oct. 9 post on LinkedIn. Her nursing career spans 45 years, including the last four as chief nurse of the 600-bed academic medical center.
As CNO, Dr. Blake led an overhaul of the hospital’s nurse hiring process, which significantly reduced the time it takes from extending offer letters from several months to two weeks. Upon retirement, Dr. Blake will stay involved at LA General as a volunteer nurse scientist.
LA General is a level 1 trauma center and serves as the primary healthcare hub for 10 million residents in the region.
