Pikeville (Ky.) Medical Center has named Curtis Koons, MD, chief physician quality officer, according to a July 10 Appalachian News-Express report.
In his new role, Dr. Koons will lead quality initiatives across the organization, overseeing quality and process improvement programs aimed at advancing patient outcomes and supporting data-driven decision-making across clinical departments, according to the report.
Dr. Koons has served as director of the department of anesthesiology since 2017 and assistant chief medical officer since 2019. He also chairs the medical center’s Institutional Review Board, which oversees the ethical conduct of clinical research.
