Kathy Harren named Providence Southern California’s CNO: 6 things to know

Kathy Harren, RN, MSN, has been named regional CNO of Providence Health & Services, Southern California, a nonprofit Catholic healthcare ministry serving the South Bay, Westside and the Greater San Fernando Valley Area.

Here are six things to know about Ms. Harren.

1. She is a veteran nurse leader who led the Providence Nursing Institute training, education and research program. She also serves as the region’s lead nursing representative to Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services for all system-level initiatives.

2. Previously, she was interim regional CNO, replacing Katherine Bullard, now clinical director of community partnerships for the five-state Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services system.

3. In her new role, she will continue working closely with the CNOs at the six Providence medical centers, hospice and home health specialties and nurse leaders in outpatient roles in the Los Angeles Area.

4. She earned a master’s degree in nursing and health care management and the Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certification.

5. Ms. Harren has held several leadership and board positions in the community, and at the state and national levels, including president of the Association of California Nurse Leaders.

6. She serves on the Hospital Quality Institute Board in California, the board of the Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes, known as CALNOC, and on the American Nurses Association Health Nurse Healthy National Advisory Board.
