Ms. Schmidt currently serves as vice president and chief development officer of Hays (Kan.) Medical Center, a 205-bed hospital. She will receive a compensation package from Labette with an annual base salary of around $230,000, plus deferred compensation based on quality objectives over the next five years.
Schmidt has 22 years of experience at Hays, where she was responsible for a range of clinical and operational departments. She also sits on the board of trustees of the National Rural Health Association and is an administrator of the Northwest Kansas Health Alliance.
