Here are four things to know about Dr. Zambrana.
1. He previously worked in cardiac surgery intensive care, trauma and pediatric intensive care at Jackson Memorial.
2. Prior to his role as UM Hospital’s CEO, he served in various other positions at the organization, including COO, CNO and interim CEO.
3. At Jackson Memorial, the flagship of Miami-based Jackson Health System, Dr. Zambrana will take on the role vacated in January when Beverly Capasso, BSN, RN, stepped down. Michael Gittleman, executive hospital administrator of Miami-based Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, will become interim CEO of UM Hospital, according to the report.
4. Dr. Zambrana joins Jackson Memorial as Jackson Health is in the midst of a 10-year, $1.4 billion capital campaign that includes new hospitals and community clinics, medical equipment, computer systems and other upgrades, according to the Miami Herald.
