Intermountain Healthcare names new chief patient safety officer: 5 things to know

Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare named Shannon Connor Phillips, MD, chief patient safety and experience officer.

Here are five things to know.

1. Dr. Philips is a pediatrician and pediatric hospitalist.

2. In her new role, she will work in collaboration with other system leaders at Intermountain to improve care outcomes, safety and the patient experience.

3. Prior to joining Intermountain this year, Dr. Philips served as Cleveland Clinic’s associate chief quality officer and as a physician lead in the health system’s office of clinic transformation.

4. Dr. Philips, who joined the Cleveland Clinic team in 2004, also served as the organization’s first patient safety officer during her tenure there.

5. Before joining Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Philips served at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
