Columbus (Ind.) Regional Health has named James Webster system chief of police and director of emergency management.
Mr. Webster joined Columbus Regional Health in 2021 as assistant chief of police and brings more than 33 years of law enforcement experience, according to a March 5 health system news release shared with Becker’s.
Before joining the health system, he served with the North Vernon Police Department, including as chief from 2006 to 2021.
Mr. Webster succeeds Anthony Pope, who retired in February after 10 years with the organization. Mr. Pope formed the Columbus Regional Health Police Department in December 2020.
The department has been named an International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Program of Distinction for seven consecutive years, and the health system said it is the only hospital in Indiana to receive the designation.
