Indian River Medical Center CEO Jeffrey Susi to retire by year-end: 3 notes

Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, Fla., announced the retirement of CEO Jeffrey L. Susi by the end of 2017.

Here are three notes:

1. Indian River Medical Center named Mr. Susi to his current role in 1998.

2. During his tenure, the hospital has grown to include more than 300 physicians, representing 41 specialties as well as a heart and cancer center affiliation with Durham, N.C.-based Duke Health.

3. IRMC Board of Directors Chairman Wayne Hockmeyer, PhD, said that the hospital has a succession plan in place to identify Mr. Susi’s successor.

“Jeff’s 30-plus years in leadership of nonprofit hospitals reflect a passion for excellence and we have been fortunate to have his dedication and vision here at IRMC,” said Dr. Hockmeyer in a statement. “We are grateful to Jeff for all he has done to give this community a medical center it can be proud of.”
