Illinois hospital taps retired CNO as interim CEO

Wanda Foster, MSN, RN, has been named interim CEO of McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Ill., effective July 18.

Ms. Foster succeeds CEO Bill Murdock, who is departing after seven years with the hospital, including the past two years as president and CEO, according to a July 14 hospital news release.

She retired from McDonough District Hospital in October 2023 after 43 years with the organization, most recently serving as vice president and chief nursing officer.

Ms. Foster returned to the hospital as interim chief nursing officer after her retirement and was appointed to the board of directors in 2025. She resigned from the board before accepting the interim CEO role.

McDonough District Hospital is a 48-bed facility serving rural central Illinois.
