Paul Ferguson was appointed COO of Hospital Sisters Health System’s Central Illinois market, a role he had held on an interim basis since April 2026.
In the role, Mr. Ferguson oversees operations across five HSHS hospitals in the market: HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield and HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville, according to a July 23 health system news release.
Mr. Ferguson brings more than two decades of healthcare leadership experience. Prior to joining HSHS, he served as vice president of operations at UT Health East Texas in Tyler, a 500-plus bed academic Level 1 trauma center, where he oversaw clinical, procedural and support services and drove a 10% year-over-year increase in cardiology volume.
Springfield, Ill.-based HSHS is a Catholic health system operating hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin.
