Hospital Sisters Health System hires chief physician executive: 3 points

Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System selected Marc Shelton, MD, vice president and chief physician executive, according to The State Journal-Register.

Three points:

1. Dr. Shelton has served as president of Prairie Cardiovascular, a physician group based in O’Fallon, Ill., since 2008.

2. He has prior experience serving as a faculty member at St. Louis-based Washington University School of Medicine and an interventional cardiologist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, also in St. Louis.

3. He succeeds Ken Johnson, MD, who is leaving to serve as vice president of clinical operations and CMO for Green Bay, Wis.-based Prevea Health’s Western Wisconsin service area.
