Holzer Health System names Dr. Michael Canady permanent CEO

Gallipolis, Ohio-based Holzer Health System tapped Michael Canady, MD, to serve as its permanent CEO, according to a Gallipolis Daily Tribune report. Dr. Canady has been serving as interim CEO since the health system terminated former CEO Christopher Meyer, DO, in September.

The board of directors terminated Dr. Meyer “due to differences related to the direction of the organization and [Holzer’s board of directors] relieved him of his duties, effective immediately.”

Prior to serving as interim CEO, Dr. Canady was the system’s CMO. He has been with Holzer since 1995, after serving in the U.S. Navy. Trained in general surgery, Dr. Canady was a staff surgeon at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune (N.C.).

Dr. Canady holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Ohio University College of Business in Athens, and he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
