Dr. Conway will work with the health system part-time when his successor has been identified. He has worked with the health system for 45 years, joining Henry Ford Medical Group as a pulmonary and critical care medicine physician in 1977. He became executive vice president of the health system and medical group CEO in 2012.

Prior to becoming medical group CEO, Dr. Conway served as senior vice president and chief quality officer for Henry Ford Health System and CMO for Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was a founder of the Henry Ford Innovation Institute, established seven years ago.

During his tenure as CEO, Henry Ford Medical Group grew to 1,900 full-time physicians and scientists, from 1,200 in 2012, and it nearly doubled its research funding to $94 million in 2018.

Henry Ford Health System will conduct a national search for Dr. Conway’s replacement.
