Dr. Connors has served as president of the children’s hospital for 14 years. During his tenure, he oversaw the growth of the Partners in Children’s Health network, which connects other healthcare facilities to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital physicians and teams.
He has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Michigan Hospital Association’s Keystone Center Patient Safety & Quality Leadership Award in 2015 and National Patient Safety Foundation’s Chairman’s Medal in 2011.
Prior to becoming president of Helen DeVos Children’s, Dr. Connors served in other leadership roles at the hospital, including director of pediatric surgery and director of pediatric trauma services. He also helped develop the hospital’s pediatric trauma program.
Dr. Connors is a clinical professor in surgery and pediatrics at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing. He serves on the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation board, Children’s Hospital Association’s Quality and Safety Committee as well as the Michigan Hospital Association’s Keystone Center board.
