HCA's Mercy Hospital gets new CEO: 5 things to know

David Donaldson will become the CEO of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare's Mercy Hospital in Miami, according to a staff memo shared with Becker's.

Five things to know:

1. Mr. Donaldson will leave his role as CEO of HCA's Parham Doctors' Hospital in Richmond, Va., a position he has held since 2016. His last day will be Dec. 6.

2. Beth Matish, CEO of Retreat Doctors' Hospital in Richmond, will serve as interim CEO for Parham Doctors' while a replacement is found. She will remain CEO of Retreat Doctors'.

3. Before his role at Parham Doctors', Mr. Donaldson was COO of Henrico Doctors' Hospital, also in Richmond, from 2014-16.

4. Prior to Henrico Doctors', Mr. Donaldson held several leadership roles at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle.

5. At Mercy, Mr. Donaldson will oversee more than 2,300 employees and 700-plus physicians at the 488-bed acute hospital.
