HCA Florida hospital appoints chief medical officer

Sherrie Somers, DO, has been named the new chief medical officer of HCA Florida’s North Florida Hospital in Gainesville, according to an Aug. 7 news release.

Dr. Somers will join the Florida hospital after departing Alexandria, La.-based HCA Healthcare Rapides Regional Medical Center, where she has served as chief medical officer for the last two years. 

She assumed the new role Aug. 1.
