HCA East Florida selects Joseph D. Melchiode to serve as Mercy Hospital CEO: 5 notes

Fort Lauderdale-based Hospital Corporation of America East Florida appointed Joseph D. Melchiode CEO of Mercy Hospital in Miami, a campus of Plantation General Hospital, according to Miami’s Community Newspapers.

Here are five notes:

1. Mr. Melchiode most recently served as CEO of University Hospital & Medical Center in Tamarac, Fla.

2. Prior to that, he was COO at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas.

3. He has been with Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA since 1995, during which time he has served in numerous roles such as associate administrator and vice president of operations at a number of Houston-based facilities.

4. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

5. He holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration/MBA from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
