HCA appoints Hugh Tappan president of South Atlantic Division

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA has announced the appointment of Hugh Tappan, MHA, MBA, as president of HCA’s South Atlantic Division, effective Jan. 1, 2015.

Mr. Tappan will replace Jamie Thomas, who recently retired from his role as president.

As president of the South Atlantic Division, Mr. Tappan is charged with overseeing 12 hospitals across Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

Mr. Tappan joined HCA in 1994 as the administrative resident at Hughston Sports Medicine Center in Georgia. Later, Mr. Tappan served as the CEO of Hughston Sports Medicine Center for five years and as COO of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, Colo., for two years. Since 2006, Mr. Tappan has served in his current position as CEO of HCA’s Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.
