Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare has promoted two leaders to new positions on its executive team.
Bimal Patel, president of Hartford HealthCare's Hartford and Northwest regions and senior vice president, was appointed executive vice president and COO of the health system, according to a July 11 news release shared with Becker's.
Mr. Patel is a 15-year veteran of Hartford HealthCare, according to the release. He initially served as senior vice president for support services at Hartford Hospital. He also held roles as Hartford Hospital's regional vice president for operations and, from 2014 to 2015, as senior vice president for operational integration for Hartford HealthCare.
Mr. Patel spent two years as president of Hartford HealthCare's East Region, and has served as president of the Hartford Region since 2017, according to the release.
He has had additional responsibilities for the health system's Northwest Region for the last two years, and will continue overseeing theregion as part of his COO role, the release said.
Hartford HealthCare also announced that Cheryl Ficara, RN, was named president of the Hartford Region, and a senior vice president at the health system.
She will be the first woman to serve as president of the Hartford Region, according to the release.
Ms. Ficara is currently senior vice president for operations in the Hartford Region — a role she's held since 2022, according to the release. Previously, she held roles as Hartford Hospital's director of perioperative services and regional vice president for patient care services.
Hartford HealthCare is a seven-hospital health system with 41,000 employees.
