Hackensack Meridian names chief-of-surgery

Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center has selected Howard Ross, MD, to serve as head surgeon. Dr. Ross, a colon and rectal surgeon, will also lead the surgery department at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.

Dr. Ross, who has been practicing for 20 years, specializes in minimally invasive surgical approaches to treat colon and rectal cancers, and also treats a number of other colorectal conditions such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. 

As surgeon in chief at the medical center, Dr. Ross will oversee nine surgery divisions, including bariatrics, breast and colorectal, among others

Before joining Hackensack Meridian Health, Dr. Ross most recently served as the vice chair of surgery and program director for the general surgery residency at Philadelphia-based Temple University Health System.  

Dr. Ross earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine.
