Hackensack hires CIO from University of Maryland Medical System

Hackensack Meridian Health, based in Edison, N.J., has named Joel Klein, MD, as its new chief digital information officer, effective Sept. 15.

In this role, Dr. Klein will be responsible for the health system’s digital transformation, overseeing all technology infrastructure, applications and cybersecurity, according to a July 21 news release. He will also lead AI strategy at Hackensack Meridian Health and report to Robert C. Garrett, CEO of the health system.

Prior to this, Dr. Klein served as senior vice president and CIO of University of Maryland Medical System.
