Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center names Matthew Trunnell CIO

Seattle-based Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center has appointed Matthew Trunnell as vice president and CIO, effective August 31.

Mr. Trunnell joins Fred Hutchinson from the Broad Institute of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard, a biomedical research center located in Cambridge, Mass., where he served as CIO.

“Matthew brings a balance and energy around the strategic use of IT combined with operational experience,” said Fred Hutch President and Director D. Gary Gilliland, MD, PhD, in a statement. “With his experience in biomedical research and informatics planning and computing, Matthew is exceptionally positioned to provide leadership in defining the future for data, informatics and information analytics across Fred Hutch.”
