Former Tenet hospital CEO joins Encompass

Carolyn Jackson, who stepped down as CEO of Tenet Healthcare’s St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Mass., on Feb. 14, has joined Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health.

Ms. Jackson was named CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Braintree (Mass.), according to a May 15 Encompass news release shared with Becker’s. The 187-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital includes its main campus in Braintree and a satellite campus in Framingham, Mass.

Ms. Jackson brings experience in service line expansion, physician recruitment, strategic planning and construction projects, the release said.

She served as CEO of Tenet’s Massachusetts market and St. Vincent Hospital since May 2019, according to her LinkedIn profile. During her tenure, nurses at St. Vincent Hospital held a 301-day strike in 2021 to 2022, with the Massachusetts Nurses Association raising concerns about patient safety and working conditions.

Before joining Tenet, Ms. Jackson was COO of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
