Dr. Elliott Sussman, Long-Time Lehigh Valley Health Network CEO, Resigns

Lehigh Valley Health Network’s longtime president and CEO, Elliot J. Sussman, MD, has announced his resignation, according to a health network news release.

According to the release, Dr. Sussman resigned to explore numerous national opportunities that require significant time away from his current position.

Dr. Sussman has served as LVHN’s president and CEO since 1993. Under his leadership, the organization has experienced its greatest period of growth, allowing it to evolve into a leading academic hospital. LVHN has also expanded the VVH-Cedar Crest and LVH-Muhlenberg campuses, established eight community health centers and established numerous primary and specialty care physician practices through out the region.

Hospital trustees have appointed Ronald W. Swinfard, MD, the health network’s current CMO, as the next president and CEO of LVHN. He has served as CMO since 2003.
