FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital President Beth Walker to retire next year

Beth Walker, RN, president of FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy, N.C., is retiring, effective Jan. 3, 2020.

Ms. Walker has worked at the hospital 38 years, joining in 1981 as a staff nurse in the intensive care unit. She has held numerous leadership roles since then, including administrative director of clinical performance, chief nursing officer and COO. She became president in 2011.

She was also part of the team that oversaw Montgomery Memorial Hospital’s merger with Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C., in 1995 to form FirstHealth of the Carolinas.

During her tenure as president, the hospital was accredited as a critical access hospital by the Joint Commission and received a five-star rating for overall quality by CMS.

Ms. Walker is a member of the North Carolina Healthcare Association’s Policy Council.
