Mr. Baker joined Fauquier Health in 1977 as an assistant administrator. During his time as CEO, he played a key role in the construction of the Fauquier Health Rehabilitation Health and Nursing Center and the Villas at Suffield, an assisted living facility. At the end of 2013, Fauquier Health entered into a joint venture agreement with Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health.
Mr. Baker noted the departure of COO Greg Bengston in September played into his decision to retire next year.
“With Greg leaving, it made sense to get a new CEO in here sooner rather than later,” said Mr. Baker, according to the report. “Then, that person can hire a COO.”
It will likely take another four months or five months to name Mr. Baker’s successor. Mr. Baker plans to stay on as a “transition consultant” through the end of next year, if need be, Fauquier Now reports.
