Fairview names chief medical officer

Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services has appointed Jaya Kumar, MD, chief medical officer, effective May 6.

Dr. Kumar most recently served as the CMO of Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo., where she played a pivotal role in the hospital’s COVID-19 response and helped the hospital achieve numerous safety and quality recognitions, including an “A” safety grade from The Leapfrog Group. 

She also previously served as chief quality officer of HCA Healthcare’s Medical City McKinney in Texas and as CMO of Mayhill Hospital in Denton, Texas, according to her LinkedIn page.

“Fairview has made incredible progress in redefining the standard of healthcare delivery,” said Dr. Kumar said in an April 15 news release. “Joining this esteemed team presents an important opportunity to help bolster that work to support our medical providers, and to ensure every patient receives the quality care they deserve.”
