Executive director of Jacobi Medical Center leaving after 10 years: 5 things to know

Bill Walsh, executive director of Bronx, N.Y.-based HHC Jacobi Medical Center, is leaving the hospital after a decade of service, according to a Bronx Times report.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Walsh and his departure.

1. Mr. Walsh will leave Jacobi in mid-September.

2. Following his departure from Jacobi, he will serve as senior vice president for hospital operations and managing director of the University Hospital of Brooklyn, part of SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

3. Mr. Walsh has more than 30 years of experience serving the New York City Health and Hospitals Corp. In addition to serving as executive director of Jacobi, he also spent the last decade as senior vice president of the North Bronx Healthcare Network and executive director of North Central Bronx Hospital.

4. During his tenure, he oversaw the construction of Jacobi's ambulatory care facility.

5. A Jacobi spokesperson said a national search will be conducted for Mr. Walsh's replacement, according to the report. In the meantime, Chris Fugazy will serve as acting executive director of Jacobi, where he currently serves as COO.
