Essentia taps new CFO from Mayo Clinic

Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health has named Mark Bortnem its new CFO, according to a Sept. 25 LinkedIn post from the health system. 

Mr. Bortnem joins Essentia from Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, where he served as CFO for the system’s Wisconsin operations based in Eau Claire and La Crosse.

He comes to Essentia with more than 25 years of leadership experience and has “extensive experience understanding and managing the dynamics of health care finances in Minnesota and Wisconsin, including rural and metropolitan markets,” according to the post.

Mr. Bortnem’s past experience includes serving as vice president of finance for Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services, according to his LinkedIn page.
