Essentia parts ways with Minnesota hospital administrator

Callen Weispfennig is no longer hospital administrator for Essentia Health-Fosston (Minn.), part of Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health.

Following Mr. Weispfennig’s exit, other leaders have stepped in to ensure a smooth transition at the hospital, a spokesperson for Essentia Health said in a statement shared with Becker’s on July 3. 

The details behind Mr. Weispfennig’s departure were not disclosed.

For the past several months, Fosston leaders have worked to terminate the city’s agreement with Essentia Health to regain operational control of the hospital.

The First Care Taskforce was created in April to help ensure uninterrupted healthcare services to the Fosston area, according to an April 23 news release from the organization.
